Hair restoration abroad

Hair restoration on Medbook covers hair transplants and other treatment for hair loss. It includes hair transplants using the FUE, DHI or FUT technique, beard and eyebrow transplants, the repair of an earlier hair transplant, non-surgical hair-loss treatment and scalp micropigmentation.

Two countries offer hair restoration through Medbook. Turkey offers every procedure in the area, in eight cities, and South Korea offers all of them except scalp micropigmentation, in Seoul, Busan and Incheon. This page explains what can be arranged, how the two destinations differ and what to prepare before you travel.

How a Medbook trip works

  1. Tell the assistant what you need treated, where you travel from and when.
  2. See the destinations that offer your treatment and choose where to ask.
  3. Receive offers with a price and dates.
  4. Confirm an offer and get a day-by-day travel roadmap.

What Medbook can arrange

A hair transplant moves hair to an area that is thin or bald. Hair transplants on Medbook cover the FUE, DHI and FUT techniques. In FUT, a thin strip of skin with hair is removed from the back of the head and divided into small grafts; in FUE, individual hairs are removed one by one. Beard and eyebrow transplants are procedures of their own, and hair transplant repair is for people who have had a transplant before and would like it corrected.

Non-surgical hair-loss treatment and scalp micropigmentation complete the list. If you are not sure which of these you need, choose "Not sure yet" under hair restoration when you describe your case. The clinic looks at the details of your case before it makes you an offer.

Choosing a destination

Turkey offers every hair restoration procedure on Medbook's list, in Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Adana, Bodrum, Bursa, Eskişehir and Kayseri. Every service on Medbook's list is arranged there: airport and clinic transfers, accommodation, an interpreter, a personal coordinator, visa support, an online consultation before you travel and aftercare.

South Korea offers hair transplants, beard and eyebrow transplants, hair transplant repair and non-surgical hair-loss treatment, in Seoul, Busan and Incheon. Accommodation and an online consultation before you travel are arranged there. Scalp micropigmentation is offered only in Turkey.

How long you stay depends on the procedure, and your clinic confirms the dates in its offer. Wherever you go, once you confirm an offer, your roadmap lets you book flights and transfers yourself or ask Medbook to arrange them.

Before you travel

Note how long you have been losing hair, what you have tried for it, and the medications you take and any allergies. Keep a few clear photos of your hair at hand, from the front, from above and from behind. If a doctor has looked into your hair loss, bring their letters and any blood test results. If you have had a hair transplant before, write down what you know about it: when and where it was done, the technique and, if you know it, the number of grafts. The assistant asks about chronic conditions, allergies and medications when you describe your case.

An online consultation before you travel is arranged in both countries. Questions worth asking there:

  • Which technique do you plan to use?
  • How long should I plan to stay, and when can I fly home?
  • How should I look after the treated area on the journey home?
  • Which follow-up checks are planned once I am home?

When you compare offers, look at the dates and at whether follow-up is included.

Questions

Can I ask for a particular transplant technique?

Yes. When the assistant asks about your preferences, you can name the technique you prefer in your own words, and you can ask about it in the online consultation before you travel. The clinic looks at the details of your case before it makes you an offer.

Where can I have scalp micropigmentation?

In Turkey. South Korea does not offer it through Medbook at the moment, though it offers every other hair restoration procedure on the list.

Can I have a beard or eyebrow transplant on its own?

Yes. It is a procedure of its own on Medbook, offered in Turkey and South Korea. You can also choose it together with a hair transplant, and the clinic confirms in its offer what it can do and when.

Is an interpreter arranged?

In Turkey, yes: an interpreter is among the services arranged there. South Korea's services do not include one. The assistant asks which language you are most comfortable communicating in, and your answer is part of your request for offers.
