Vein treatment in Turkey

Vein treatment is one of the areas where nothing on Turkey's list is offered only there. Lithuania has the same four procedures, from the consultation with a Doppler scan to phlebectomy and vein surgery, so one difference worth knowing is what else a request to Turkey can hold.

If your request also includes something Lithuania does not offer, such as a health check-up or a treatment from skin and aesthetic medicine, Turkey is the one of the two that covers every choice. Each destination in your results shows which of your choices it offers, and for vein treatment on its own, Lithuania and Turkey appear side by side.

How a Medbook trip works

  1. Tell the assistant what you need treated, where you travel from and when.
  2. See the destinations that offer your treatment and choose where to ask.
  3. Receive offers with a price and dates.
  4. Confirm an offer and get a day-by-day travel roadmap.

What you can have done in Turkey

Three of Turkey's four vein procedures are treatments: sclerotherapy, phlebectomy and vein surgery, and laser vein ablation (EVLA). The vein consultation with a Doppler scan is the odd one out: you can ask for it alone or alongside a treatment. How these procedures differ is described briefly in Medbook's guide to vein treatment, under Treatments.

You can also leave the choice open. "Not sure yet" under vein treatment tells the clinic that you have not settled on a treatment, and it goes through your case before making an offer.

How the trip usually goes

Earlier ultrasound or Doppler results for your legs are among the records Medbook's guide to vein treatment suggests gathering. In the online consultation before you travel, ask whether you will leave Turkey with a written report of the Doppler scan.

After you confirm an offer, the flight comes first in your roadmap, booked by you or by Medbook, and the airport transfer can be added once it is set. While you are in Turkey, practical questions go to your personal coordinator, and an interpreter is arranged too. A vein treatment stay usually starts with appointments and ends with a little time in Turkey after the procedure, before the flight home; your clinic confirms the dates in its offer. If you ask both countries, set their offers side by side on dates, place and whether follow-up is included.

Questions

Is the vein consultation the same as a cardiology consultation?

No. The vein consultation with a Doppler scan belongs to vein treatment, which Turkey and Lithuania both offer. The cardiology consultation with tests belongs to heart and vascular treatment, an area only Turkey offers, so for that consultation your results show only Turkey. Choose the one your doctor has suggested.

Does my departure city decide which country I see?

No. Every destination that offers what you choose appears in your results, whichever city you travel from, so vein treatment brings up both Turkey and Lithuania. Your departure city still goes into your request, where it helps clinics estimate your travel.
