Spine surgery in Turkey

Turkey offers all seven spine procedures on Medbook's list and is the only destination for five of them: scoliosis treatment, spinal fusion, artificial disc replacement, herniated disc and stenosis surgery, and vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty.

The other two, endoscopic spine surgery and spinal injections and pain treatment, are offered in South Korea as well, so they bring up both countries in your results; for any of the five, Turkey is the only one.

How a Medbook trip works

  1. Tell the assistant what you need treated, where you travel from and when.
  2. See the destinations that offer your treatment and choose where to ask.
  3. Receive offers with a price and dates.
  4. Confirm an offer and get a day-by-day travel roadmap.

What you can have done in Turkey

Each of the seven is listed separately: you can choose the one your doctor has named, several at once, or, if no name has been given yet, "Not sure yet" under spine surgery. The descriptions are in Medbook's guide to spine surgery, under Treatments, and the clinic reads your answers before it makes an offer.

How the trip usually goes

Gather your spine imaging and records as Medbook's guide to spine surgery suggests, and use the online consultation before you travel to ask how the clinic would like to receive the image files and what to keep in mind for the journey home after the procedure.

Once the offer is confirmed, your flight goes into the roadmap ahead of the transfer; Medbook can book both, or you can. During the stay, a personal coordinator in Turkey takes care of practical questions. A spine stay is usually built from examinations, the procedure and a stretch of recovery before the flight home. Your clinic confirms the dates in its offer, where you can also see whether follow-up after the procedure is part of it.

Questions

Are spinal injections and acupuncture in the same area?

No. Spinal injections and pain treatment belong to spine surgery, while acupuncture and pain-relief therapy, like chiropractic and manual therapy, belongs to rehabilitation and physiotherapy. Turkey and South Korea both offer all three, so whichever you choose, your results show both countries.

Does Lithuania offer spine surgery?

No, Lithuania has no spine procedures on Medbook at the moment, although Kaunas offers orthopaedic procedures, vein treatment, and physiotherapy and rehab programmes. For spine procedures, your results show Turkey and, for two of them, South Korea.
