What Medbook can arrange
Kidney stones are hard lumps that form in the kidneys. Larger stones can be broken up or removed in a procedure, for example with shock waves from outside the body or with a thin tube passed up the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the bladder. The prostate is a small gland below the bladder. When it gets bigger, it can press on the urethra and cause problems with peeing. Treatment for an enlarged prostate is listed together with treatment for prostatitis. Overactive bladder is a condition in which the bladder squeezes urine out at the wrong time, and cystitis is inflammation of the bladder, often from an infection.
Circumcision is surgery to remove the foreskin, the skin that covers the head of the penis. The area also covers treatment for erectile dysfunction and sexual health, penile enlargement, vasectomy and varicocele treatment, and reconstruction of the urethra and the ureter. A urology consultation with tests can be chosen on its own. If you are not sure which treatment you need, choose "Not sure yet" under urology when you describe your case, or write in your own words what your doctor has told you. The clinic looks at the details of your case before it makes you an offer.
Where treatment takes place
Turkey offers every urology procedure on Medbook's list, in Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Adana, Bodrum, Bursa, Eskişehir and Kayseri. You do not have to choose a city first. Each offer shows where your treatment takes place, so you can compare places as well as dates.
Every service on Medbook's list is arranged in Turkey: airport and clinic transfers, accommodation, an interpreter, a personal coordinator, visa support, an online consultation before you travel and aftercare. Once you confirm an offer, your roadmap lets you book flights and transfers yourself or ask Medbook to arrange them.
How long you stay depends on the procedure, and your clinic confirms the dates in its offer. When the assistant asks how many days you can spend abroad, choose the option that really fits your plans.
Before you travel
Gather the records that describe your condition as it is today: recent urine and blood test results, ultrasound or CT scans with their written reports, and letters from your doctor or urologist. Add notes on any earlier treatment or surgery in the same area, for example earlier kidney stone procedures. Write down the medications you take and any allergies. The assistant asks about chronic conditions, allergies and medications when you describe your case.
An online consultation before you travel is among the services arranged in Turkey. Questions worth asking during the consultation:
- Which tests or scans do you need to see, and how recent should they be?
- Can I have any of the tests at home before I travel?
- How long should I plan to stay, and when can I fly home?
- Which follow-up checks are planned, and can my doctor at home do any of them?
When you compare offers, look at the dates and at whether follow-up is included.
Questions
Which countries offer urology through Medbook?
Turkey, in eight cities. The list comes from Medbook's catalogue, so if another country starts to offer urology, it appears on this page and in your results.
Do clinics see my name and contact details?
Not when you ask for offers. Nothing is sent before you choose which destinations to ask, and the request sent to each destination describes your case without your name, e-mail address or phone number.
Is prostate cancer treatment part of urology?
On Medbook, prostate cancer and kidney, bladder and testicular cancer belong to the cancer care area, which is also offered in Turkey. You can choose treatments from both areas when you describe your case.
Is an interpreter arranged?
Yes. An interpreter is among the services arranged in Turkey, together with a personal coordinator and aftercare. The assistant also asks which language you are most comfortable communicating in.
