Ear, nose and throat treatment in Turkey

Turkey offers all nine ear, nose and throat (ENT) procedures on Medbook's list, and eight of them only there: sinusitis and sinus surgery (FESS), septoplasty and turbinate surgery, tonsil and adenoid removal, eardrum and middle-ear surgery, cochlear and hearing implants, snoring and sleep apnoea treatment, voice and vocal cord surgery, and vertigo and inner-ear treatment. Salivary gland surgery is offered in Turkey and South Korea.

Each offer names one of Turkey's eight cities as the place of treatment.

How a Medbook trip works

  1. Tell the assistant what you need treated, where you travel from and when.
  2. See the destinations that offer your treatment and choose where to ask.
  3. Receive offers with a price and dates.
  4. Confirm an offer and get a day-by-day travel roadmap.

What you can have done in Turkey

Turkey's list covers the nose and sinuses, the ears, and the throat and voice. For the nose, you can choose sinus surgery (FESS) or septoplasty and turbinate surgery; for the ears, eardrum and middle-ear surgery, cochlear and hearing implants, or vertigo and inner-ear treatment; for the throat and voice, tonsil and adenoid removal or voice and vocal cord surgery. Salivary gland surgery and snoring and sleep apnoea treatment complete the list. Medbook's guide to ear, nose and throat treatment, under Treatments, explains what each procedure is.

If you are not sure which procedure you need, choose "Not sure yet" under ear, nose and throat, or write what your ENT doctor has told you in your own words. The clinic makes its offer once it has looked at your case.

How the trip usually goes

Before you travel, ask your ENT doctor for a letter and for copies of recent scans with their reports. For a hearing problem, add your latest hearing test, and for snoring or sleep apnoea, the results of any sleep study you have had. In the online consultation, ask whether the clinic needs new tests once you arrive and how many days it would like you to stay in Turkey after the procedure.

Once you confirm an offer, the flight goes into your roadmap first and the transfer after it, and you can book either yourself or let Medbook arrange it. In Turkey, transfers and accommodation are arranged for you, an interpreter is arranged for your stay, and a personal coordinator looks after the practical side from the moment you land. Plan for the days before and after the procedure as well as the procedure itself. How many days that means depends on the treatment, and your clinic confirms the dates in its offer. Aftercare can continue remotely once you are home; before you confirm an offer, check whether it includes follow-up.

Questions

Which ENT procedures are offered only in Turkey?

All of them except salivary gland surgery, which South Korea offers as well. For salivary gland surgery your results show both countries, and you choose which ones to ask for offers.

Can septoplasty be combined with rhinoplasty?

Both can go into your request when you describe your case. Septoplasty and turbinate surgery belong to this area, and rhinoplasty to plastic and cosmetic surgery, which Turkey also offers. Whether they are done together is for the clinic to decide, and it confirms in its offer what it can do and when.

When can I fly home after ENT surgery?

That depends on the procedure, so it is for the clinic to say. Raise it in the online consultation before you travel. The dates in each offer reflect the clinic's plan for your stay.
