Heart and vascular treatment in Turkey

Heart and vascular treatment is offered through Medbook only in Turkey at the moment, and Turkey offers all eight procedures in the area: coronary bypass surgery, heart valve surgery and TAVI, coronary angiography and stenting, arrhythmia ablation, pacemaker implantation, aortic and vascular surgery, congenital heart surgery, and a cardiology consultation with tests.

Two procedures from other areas can go into the same request: cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, which Medbook offers only in Turkey, and heart and brain screening, a health check-up programme that South Korea offers as well. Your treatment takes place in one of Turkey's eight cities, named in each offer.

How a Medbook trip works

  1. Tell the assistant what you need treated, where you travel from and when.
  2. See the destinations that offer your treatment and choose where to ask.
  3. Receive offers with a price and dates.
  4. Confirm an offer and get a day-by-day travel roadmap.

What you can have done in Turkey

Every procedure in this area is available in Turkey, so you can choose any of them, or several, when you describe your case. Medbook's guide to heart and vascular treatment, under Treatments, explains what each procedure is.

If you choose a procedure from this area together with heart and brain screening, your results show both Turkey and South Korea, and each destination shows which of your choices it offers. If you are not sure which procedure you need, choose "Not sure yet" under heart and vascular. The clinic reviews your case before it makes you an offer.

How the trip usually goes

Medbook's guide to heart and vascular treatment lists the records to gather before you travel. If you need a visa for Turkey, an invitation letter for your application can be arranged as part of visa support. Apply in good time before the dates in your offer; Medbook's page on Turkey, under Destinations, links the official visa rules.

Once you confirm an offer, your roadmap starts with the flight, which you can book yourself or ask Medbook to arrange, and the transfer comes after it. From the airport on, your transfers to the accommodation and the clinic are arranged, and an interpreter and a personal coordinator are among the services for your stay.

A trip for heart treatment typically starts with tests and appointments, continues with the procedure and ends with some time in Turkey before you fly home. How long each part lasts depends on the procedure, and your clinic confirms the dates in its offer. Before you confirm an offer, check whether it includes follow-up.

Questions

Is heart treatment offered anywhere other than Turkey?

Not through Medbook at the moment. Turkey is the only destination with procedures in this area, so when you choose one of them, Turkey is the destination your results show for it. You still decide whether to ask for offers there.

Does vein treatment belong to heart and vascular?

No. Vein treatment is an area of its own on Medbook, from a vein consultation with a Doppler scan to laser vein ablation (EVLA). Turkey offers every procedure in it, and so does Lithuania, so your results show both countries for it.

Will my cardiologist at home get the reports?

Ask in the online consultation before you travel which reports you will take home and in which language, so that your cardiologist can read them. Aftercare is among the services in Turkey and can continue remotely, and each offer shows whether follow-up is included.
