How a Medbook trip works

  1. Tell the assistant what you need treated, where you travel from and when.
  2. See the destinations that offer your treatment and choose where to ask.
  3. Receive offers with a price and dates.
  4. Confirm an offer and get a day-by-day travel roadmap.

What you can have done in South Korea

In South Korea, the surgical option is endoscopic spine surgery and the non-surgical one is spinal injections and pain treatment. Medbook's guide to spine surgery, under Treatments, explains the whole area. You can also choose a rehabilitation treatment that South Korea offers, such as chiropractic and manual therapy or acupuncture and pain-relief therapy.

If you know you need spine treatment but not which procedure, choose "Not sure yet" under spine surgery when you describe your case, and your results show every destination that offers a procedure in this area. You can also write in your own words what a doctor has told you. The clinic looks at the details of your case before it makes you an offer.

How the trip usually goes

Before you travel, gather your recent spine imaging: MRI or CT scans and X-rays with their written reports and, if you have them, the image files themselves. Add letters from your doctors and records of any earlier spine surgery or injections. In the online consultation, ask which scans the clinic needs to see and how recent they should be, how long you should plan to stay and when you can fly home.

Once you confirm an offer, your roadmap lets you book your flight yourself or ask Medbook to arrange it, and then do the same for the transfer from the airport. Accommodation is arranged for you for the length of your stay, and each offer shows where your treatment takes place. For endoscopic spine surgery, a stay typically includes any appointments before the procedure, the procedure itself and time to recover before the flight home, and your clinic confirms the dates in its offer. A personal coordinator and aftercare are not among the services in South Korea, so check each offer for whether follow-up is included.

Questions

Is spinal fusion offered in South Korea?

Not through Medbook at the moment. Spinal fusion is offered in Turkey, along with every other spine procedure on Medbook's list. South Korea offers endoscopic spine surgery, as well as spinal injections and pain treatment.

Can I get offers from Turkey and South Korea at the same time?

Yes, if both offer the treatment you choose, as they do for endoscopic spine surgery and for spinal injections and pain treatment. Your results show every destination that offers it, and you choose which ones to ask for offers.

Should someone travel with me?

That depends on your procedure and on how you will manage the journey home, so ask about it in the online consultation before you travel. If someone comes with you, plan their flights and stay as well.
