Skin and aesthetic medicine abroad

Skin and aesthetic medicine on Medbook covers cosmetic treatments of the skin and the treatment of skin conditions. It includes anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers, skin boosters, laser treatment, chemical peels, skin tightening and thread lifts, as well as care for acne, eczema and psoriasis and the removal of moles and warts.

Two countries offer this area through Medbook: Turkey, in eight cities, and South Korea, in Seoul, Busan and Incheon. Both offer every procedure in the area; where they differ is the cities, the journey and the services arranged for you. This page explains what can be arranged, how the two destinations differ and what to prepare before you travel.

How a Medbook trip works

  1. Tell the assistant what you need treated, where you travel from and when.
  2. See the destinations that offer your treatment and choose where to ask.
  3. Receive offers with a price and dates.
  4. Confirm an offer and get a day-by-day travel roadmap.

What Medbook can arrange

Injectables include Botox and other anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, and skin boosters and mesotherapy. The area also covers skin tightening and thread lifts, laser skin treatment, chemical peels and facials, and non-surgical fat reduction.

The medical side of the area covers acne and acne scars, eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions, and the removal of moles, warts and skin tags. If you are not sure which treatment you need, describe your skin concern in your own words when the assistant asks what you would like treated, or choose "Not sure yet" under skin and aesthetic medicine. The clinic looks at the details of your case before it makes you an offer.

Choosing a destination

Turkey offers every procedure in this area, in Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Adana, Bodrum, Bursa, Eskişehir and Kayseri. Every service on Medbook's list is arranged there: airport and clinic transfers, accommodation, an interpreter, a personal coordinator, visa support, an online consultation before you travel and aftercare.

South Korea offers every procedure in this area as well, in Seoul, Busan and Incheon. Accommodation and an online consultation before you travel are arranged there, while an interpreter, a personal coordinator and aftercare are not among the services.

Because both countries offer the same procedures, you can ask both and compare the offers, including the dates and where the treatment takes place. Wherever you go, once you confirm an offer, your roadmap lets you book flights and transfers yourself or ask Medbook to arrange them.

Before you travel

Write down what you would like treated and, for a skin condition, how long you have had it. Keep a few clear photos of the area at hand. For a skin condition, gather your dermatologist's letters, any test results and a list of the creams and medications you have used. For cosmetic treatments, note any injections, fillers or laser treatments you have had and when. The assistant asks about chronic conditions, allergies and medications when you describe your case.

An online consultation before you travel is arranged in both countries. Questions worth asking there:

  • If the treatment is given in several sessions, do they fit into one stay?
  • Is there anything I should avoid before the treatment, such as sun or certain medications?
  • When can I fly home after the treatment?
  • Which follow-up is planned once I am home?

When you compare offers, look at the dates and at whether follow-up is included.

Questions

Do Turkey and South Korea offer the same treatments?

In this area, yes. Both offer every skin and aesthetic procedure on Medbook's list. They differ in their cities and in the services arranged for you, which this page shows for each country.

Can I combine a skin treatment with another procedure?

Yes. You can choose several treatments when you describe your case, including treatments from other areas such as plastic surgery or hair restoration. Each destination in your results shows which of them it offers.

Can I ask about a skin condition rather than a cosmetic treatment?

Yes. Acne and acne scars, eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions, and the removal of moles, warts and skin tags are all part of this area. Bring your dermatologist's letters and any test results.

Is an interpreter arranged?

In Turkey, yes: an interpreter is among the services arranged there. South Korea's services do not include one. The assistant asks which language you are most comfortable communicating in, and your answer is part of your request for offers.
