How a Medbook trip works

  1. Tell the assistant what you need treated, where you travel from and when.
  2. See the destinations that offer your treatment and choose where to ask.
  3. Receive offers with a price and dates.
  4. Confirm an offer and get a day-by-day travel roadmap.

What you can have done in South Korea

You can choose chiropractic and manual therapy or acupuncture and pain-relief therapy on their own, or together with a treatment from another area offered in South Korea, such as endoscopic spine surgery, spinal injections and pain treatment, or an orthopaedic procedure like shoulder arthroscopy. Medbook's guide to rehabilitation and physiotherapy, under Treatments, describes the whole area.

If you are not sure which of the two you need, describe your problem in your own words when the assistant asks what you would like treated, or choose "Not sure yet" under rehabilitation and physiotherapy. The clinic looks at the details of your case before it makes you an offer.

How the trip usually goes

The number of days you can spend abroad matters for a course of therapy, so when the assistant asks, choose the option that really fits your plans. Before you travel, gather letters from your doctor or physiotherapist, recent scans with their written reports and notes on the therapy you have had so far. In the online consultation, ask how many sessions the clinic plans and how many a day, how long you should plan to stay and which exercises you can continue once you are home.

Once you confirm an offer, your roadmap lets you book your flight yourself or ask Medbook to arrange it, and then do the same for the transfer from the airport. Accommodation is arranged for you for the length of your stay, and each offer shows where your treatment takes place. How long you stay usually depends on how many sessions the clinic plans, and your clinic confirms the dates in its offer. An interpreter, a personal coordinator and aftercare are not among the services in South Korea. The assistant asks which language you are most comfortable communicating in, and your answer is part of your request for offers.
